Voters Pass Bond For New School

Bruce Klaehn, Superintendent of the Grand Meadow School District in Minnesota, reports that voters there passed a bond allocating $8 million for the construction of a new school, serving 400 students and 30 teachers in Kindergarten through Grade 12. This facility of five Monolithic Domes will include classrooms, media center, various athletic areas and gym, cafeteria, and a multipurpose center with a stage.

Klaehn says, “Now we have to get the approval of our State Legislature and a Grant for the additional $3 million needed.” He feels optimistic about approval because maintenance and utility costs of Monolithic Domes are so economically reasonable.

Klaehn says, “We’ll be building the first Monolithic Dome school in Minnesota, and anyone who knows anything at all about our weather will realize that they’re the answer to our cold winters.” If all goes as planned, construction will begin in the fall of 2000, with completion anticipated for early 2002.
