Ananur's Monolithic Dome Home

By Hartley Spencer

This is a 35' x 15' sphere. Exterior is elastomeric Elray stucco. Eyebrows are hand formed out of expanded steel lathe filled with straw.

This dome has a crawl space. TJI's fit into slats in ring beam. The floor is native Douglas Fir as are the beams and ceiling in bedroom.

The main spine wall is curved in order keep the house flowing.

The front and side entrances are inset openings, with In-Sul foam pieces fastened to openings and stuccoed over.

The house is heated with a 30,000 BTU propane fireplace. This home is located at approximately 8,500 feet above sea level in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains in South Central Colorado. She Loves It!

By the way, it was shotcreted last December in single digit numbers, and completed by April. What a trip.

Sincerely,

Hartley Spencer
