Andrew and Diane Johnson and their 8 children live on their 700-acre ranch in Milford, Texas just 5 miles south of the Monolithic Dome Institute. Diane, a California native has always feared the potentially devastating effects of a Texas tornado. So, when they purchased the ranch in 1998, they investigated various disaster shelters. Monolithic Domes made their decision easy.

They built a 36-foot diameter dome in 2000 near the existing conventional home. In the past four years, the dome has served them well. It has been used as a tornado shelter on many occasions. When inclement weather threatens, the entire family takes refuge within the dome. In addition to a tornado shelter, the dome is used for multiple purposes. Currently Andy teaches a daily early morning seminary class for teens in the dome. It also serves as a family recreational area, a guest house for short-term guests, and a temporary residence for the family during a 6-month remodeling venture of their home.

The dome provides a kitchen, two offices and two bathrooms with both interior and exterior access so ranch hands and vistors don't have to enter the dome to utilize. The interior offices are placed around the perimeter and the domes' center functions as the living/recreational area.

Andy's main profession is not ranching. He is a partner in a successful CPA firm in Dallas, however, besides tax consulting, his passions in life are his family and their ranch. Currently the dome is being used for the business office for SteakBurger Ground Steak, a new company which evolved from life on the ranch. Andy specializes in raising grass fed Hereford and Angus cattle.

Andy said, "We realized we could make more money selling meat than cows, so we started researching the possibility of using the domain name, www.steakBurger.com and creating the finest ground beef using the very best cuts of beef. In our first attempt to purchase the domain name, we discovered it was taken. We kept checking for it and soon realized that the previous owners let it expire. We jumped on the chance to own the domain name and get the business started."

SteakBurger is organically raised, grass fed beef. The Johnsons are unique in that they only produce SteakBurger. They take all the cuts of beef and grind it all together to produce true SteakBurger. Local customers have the option of picking up their order at the dome office in Milford. You can trust the cattle has been raised free of antibiotics, steroids and pesticides and has been fed 100% grass for its whole lifetime. David B. South and others who have purchased and used SteakBurger highly recommend it. Their prices are just slightly higher than grocery store prices for lean chuck. And SteakBurger is all the good cuts, not the scraps. Most importantly it's clean and never been to a feedlot.
