We recently had the opportunity to estimate the construction price of some oil storage tanks. It now appears that Monolithic Oil Tanks are far more competitive than we thought they could ever be.

the Monolithic Door is best described by its official name: the Monolithic Contoured Laterally Moveable Access Door.
It is and does everything that its name implies. Constructed as a one-piece, three-dimensional, curved panel,
the Monolithic Door can move laterally on the inside or the outside of a Monolithic Dome.

This facility offers a 21st Century experience. Whenever I show people the photograph of this office complex they always remark, "Oh neat!" or "That's spectacular!" Can you imagine a visit to this place? You wouldn't look at an office building in the same light again. This same general complex can be built for a school, church, college -- something that looks to the future. |

"It was a very good building for a very long time -- but that's progress, I guess," said Dr. Arnold Wilson about the February 11, 2006 razing of a historic, thin shell concrete dome in Provo, Utah. |

Indoor golf may now be affordable utilizing the Monolithic Dome. A nine-hole course could be built in four 400-foot domes perfectly. Proposed plans include two holes in each of the three domes and three holes in the fourth dome. The benefits of having an indoor golf course are obvious. There would never be a day too rainy, too snowy or too hot to play golf. A person could practice year-round and in climates not usually conducive to golf.

The Monolithic Dome makes a super-efficient and functional steel fabrication facility or heavy equipment shop. One reason is because the Dome is ideally suited for a polar crane. What is a polar crane? A polar crane has one end that swivels in the middle and the other end which rotates around the perimeter. Inside a Monolithic Dome, a polar crane never gets trapped. You can always maneuver it to the left or right. |

With careful planning, an entire community can benefit from an indoor Monolithic pool facility. For anyone considering an indoor swimming pool, there is no better choice than a Monolithic Dome to contain it. A Monolithic Dome is clear span. There are no interior columns or posts required and no spectacular trusses needed to be put across the pool. And most importantly, nothing inside will rot or absorb water.

A prison or jail built "in the round" simply functions more efficiently as an incarcerating facility. Sight lines are clear so there's a better view of all that goes on. Sprayed concrete is much tougher than conventional concrete. The amount of heating and cooling is vastly reduced. Plus, the speed of construction is substantially increased, so the time from plan to finish is really quite rapid. |

In the history of Monolithic Domes, a bowling alley tops the list as one of the very first Monolithic Domes in the U.S. The distinctive dome shape makes a perfect marketing tool for the facility. The exterior of the Dome can be designed to create a fun atmosphere and pique public interest. |

At Monolithic, we think fire stations should be indestructible. They house emergency response teams -- the firefighters and paramedics a community needs when natural or man-made disasters strike. A Monolithic Dome designed as a fire station makes that facility invulnerable to tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes and a serious deterrent to acts of terrorism.

One of the greatest advantages a Monolithic Dome has over other structures is the lack of exterior sound transmission through the structure. Outside noises are rarely heard on the inside of the Dome. So what does this mean to music professionals? It means that a Monolithic Dome music studio can be located near noisy areas and exterior noises are silenced by the Dome shell. The calculated sound transmission coefficient is virtually zero. Also, because of the shape of the dome, sound tends to concentrate in the center of the dome. There won't be a standing wave over in one corner and another standing wave in another corner. |

The main hurdle in getting a rural hospital built is cost. However, by using a Monolithic Dome hospital, multiple domes can be added as growth increases allowing the hospital to operate at the lowest possible cost. Utilities and maintenance of the Monolithic Dome is extremely reasonable. |

The curved shape of a bandshell is its very essence. You can't have one without the other. But the curved shape is also what makes many bandshells extremely costly. Some designs call for plywood formed into the bandshell's desired roundness. Others use timbers arranged into a curved, shell-like structure. Either of those choices is expensive in construction time and money. |

Andrew and Diane Johnson and their 8 children live on their 700-acre ranch in Milford, Texas just 5 miles south of the Monolithic Dome Institute. Diane, a California native has always feared the potentially devastating effects of a Texas tornado. So, when they purchased the ranch in 1998, they investigated various disaster shelters. Monolithic Domes made their decision easy. |
Unless you know the pitfalls, choosing an architect can be a risky business.

The Monolithic Dome is often used in its most economical configuration-- part of a sphere-- but sometimes the customer wants something more grand. The images included with this article are of a beautiful and grand office complex. It illustrates a two-story office building, but could easily be designed as a twenty story.

As soon as Palm Beach officials begin warning residents of an impending disaster, The Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League provides its local media with public service announcements about its rescue service. "We encourage folks to take their pets with them to wherever they evacuate. But some people just can't do that. They may have no choice, other than a place that simply cannot or will not accept animals. Fortunately, we can and do." |

Stardome Studios -- The innovative plan for an entire movie studio built of Monolithic Domes has moved to the next level of design and production. Although the location of the studio has not been disclosed at this time, architects and designers are busily creating this one-of-a-kind studio concept. |

"The dome has done all the things I was hoping it would do. It differentiates us from other buildings and brings potential customers through the door," said Steve Lumpee, owner of Aggieland Fitness in College Station, Texas. |

"I had to ask myself while I was traveling for nearly 30 hours;
Do I not have enough to do in the United States to keep me busy?
Why in the world am I traveling all away around the world to sell
domes?" said David B. South.

"Theatres should look unique. They always have. That's tradition
with theaters. Monolithic Domes are the perfect structure to provide
a unique and interesting theater on the outside and the inside.
People are attracted to the unusual."

The image of children running around in their bathing suits during

The new Monolithic Hangar door is both strong and simple. It's
a single piece, compound, curved door that rotates within the hangar.
The door's patent application describes it as a unitary, contoured,
laterally moveable, access door.

David B. South, President of Monolithic, recalls the project fondly.
He said, "It was our first really big job. Those domes were monsters
for their day, and we had never built anything that large before.

Monolithic recently designed an airplane hangar door, tailored
for Monolithic Dome Hangars, that is not only stronger and safer
than currently available, conventional doors but also affordable.
We expect the new door (patent pending) to significantly enhance
an aircraft's safety while it's housed in a Monolithic Dome Hangar.
