Monolithic Dome HospitalsAn affordable option for small communitiesApril 18, 2005 by David B. South
Many years ago we built a medical clinic in Battle Mountain, Nevada. Hospital management and personnel told us after its completion that the clinic was designed very efficiently. The nursing station is in the center of the facility and exam rooms and offices were placed around the perimeter. The same design principal needs to be used for a hospital. Included here is one vision for a hospital for a rural community. The exam rooms are located around the perimeter with the nurses station in the center. The nurses can see from one nurses station to another which enhances communication between personnel. Overcoming the biggest hurdleThe main hurdle in getting a rural hospital built is cost. However, by using a Monolithic Dome hospital, multiple domes can be added as growth increases allowing the hospital to operate at the lowest possible cost. Utilities and maintenance of the Monolithic Dome is extremely reasonable. Safety during disastersPatients, doctors, nurses and staff have very little to worry about in a Monolithic Dome. They remain safe and secure during tornadoes, hurricanes or other natural disasters and as fire safe as can be made. Recently, one hospital administrator told me that one of the scariest experiences he's ever known was to move sick patients from a hospital as it was being torn apart by one of Florida's most recent hurricanes. This would not have been the case with a Monolithic Dome hospital. Eliminating the need to move patients during disasters eliminates unnecessary cost and risk of life. In fact, others would seek the facility for refuge. A hospital should be the one building left standing after any natural disaster, so the medical needs of the people can be the first priority. Let us help you and your communityIf you are looking to build a new hospital, give us call. We would love the opportunity to show you how a Monolithic Dome can help your community. A Monolithic Dome hospital is ideally suited for a medical facility of any type and size. Related Links:
