It is a sky shell with a black interior that erases structural lines and makes it possible to create just about any environment you may want -- anything from an awe-inspiring starry sky to a verdant jungle. The second dome sports a classic white interior. It houses classrooms, a fellowship hall, a 100-seat cafe or dinner theatre and a gymnasium. The third dome is the children's theme dome. Description: This is a Wallace Neff-style D'home in downtown Phoenix. It is a 40' diameter dome including 950 square feet. It is one of the few remaining examples of the original bubble homes that everyone from Elvis to Gandhi were keen on in 1950. You will see a mint-blue dome, almost covered with cat's claw vines on a one third acre irrigated lot with mature Mesquite and Palo Verde trees. The artisan owners have been at it with faux-finish clouds throughout the interior, and some clever ceramic touches. There is a hand-built stone bridge, and block fencing with a cloud mural treatment. A matching vintage 1954 trailer sits by the stone fire pit. You can see how this dome was formed in the upper unfinished loft. This is hand-toweled concrete, some three to four inches thick. |

The lot is five miles off the beaten path via gravel roads. It consists of seven interconnected Monolithic Domes. Kitchen Dome, 29' diameter; Open Patio, 36' diameter, Great Room, 41' diameter; Private dome 41' diameter. The home has a total of 2150 sq. ft. Three additional 31' domes make up the two garages and the shop, totaling 1300 sq. ft. Directions: Exit Interstate 25 at the Hatchet Ranch Road exit 77 (South of Pueblo, CO). Go North on the East Frontage road (Ignore the dead end sign). Turn right on Pine Bluff (passing under the Hatchet Ranch sign). Go over the creek and turn right at the stop sign (Pine Bluff Drive East). In about 1.5 miles (at the "Y" in the road) veer right onto Sunflower Lane. In about 2.8 miles turn left onto Horse Creek Drive. Directions: From Houston, get on SH 249 and take it West, through Tomball, to Pinehurst. In Pinehurst, SH 249 becomes FM 1774. Stay on FM 1774 ( SH 249) until you reach Magnolia. The first traffic light in Magnolia is Nichols Sawmill. Turn left and go 2.4 miles to Country Place Rd. (on right). Turn right and follow the road around. The road makes a right turn, a left turn and then a final right turn and we are the only dome on the right at 29522 Country Place Rd. From Conroe area: Get on I-45 South to FM 1488. Go West
on FM 1488 until you reach Magnolia (approx 17 miles). Stay on FM
1488 until you reach Magnolia proper. Cross the railroad tracks
and turn left onto FM 1774. The second traffic light will be Nichols
Sawmill. Turn right and follow the previous instructions. |

Directions: Take I-20 west to exit 414. This is the exit for Hwy 180. Merge onto Hwy 180 and continue west (parallel to I-20) until you reach the light at FM 730 North to Azle. Turn North (right). In 2-3 miles you will reach the light at Dicey Rd. About 2 blocks further you will find Gail on the left. There is a sign for Timmaron and Murls Lake Estates. Description: Our dome 45' diameter. Red cedar is used throughout the dome and loft as an accent. Our home is still under construction, but we wanted to be on the tour to show some of the features of an unfinished dome and how to finish it. It provides 1,590 downstairs and 600 sf upstairs. |

Directions: Highway 75 North through McKinney to exit 45 (Bonham) which is Highway 121. Proceed on 121 to Highway 160. At that junction there are 2 blinking yellow lights. Turn left on 160 and after about 3 miles there will be 2 ground level cream color water containers that say Desert Water. Begin to slow there as you will turn right onto FM 814 at the bottom of the little hill. Cross a bridge and start into an S curve. As you come out of the 'S' you will turn left on Fannin Co. 4400. There is a huge cement culvert on the corner. If you pass the mobile homes...you've gone too far. The sign sits way off 814 and is against the fence. Travel down 4400 to Santa Fe Trail. This is a left turn across a bridge. You can't miss us. |
