Everything is bigger in Dallas

October 24, 2006

by: Carol Lahnam

Everything is bigger in Dallas, a city known for big money, big shopping and big hair. But the October 2006 issue D Home Magazine features an article that describes how small dome homes could help solve the nation’s low-income housing shortage. In his article headlined Pod Squad, writer Glenn Arbery describes why Monolithic Domes just might be the answer to Dallas’ crisis in affordable family housing. “We have a huge portion of the United States population whose No. 1 problem is putting a roof over their head at night,” David B. South, president of the Monolithic Dome Institute is quoted as saying in the article. “In fact, one- and two-person households make up two-thirds of all renters in America,” he says. Click here to read how the 10-foot diameter domes that David has been building in and around Italy, Texas are making a big difference.
