YUMA, Arizona (December 2006) – Yumadome, one of most unusual homes in Yuma, will once again be open for tours on Saturday, December 9th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 11,500-square-foot dome home, located at 10360 S. Ave 5E, has eight bedroom suites that house four generations of one family, as well as a large atrium and community kitchen.
Admission to the three-story home is $10 per person, but half of the proceeds will be donated to Hospice of Yuma.
Yumadome is a Monolithic Dome, a round, steel-reinforced concrete building known for its energy efficiency, durability and strength. Monolithic Domes can cost as much as 50 percent less to heat and cool than traditional structures of the same size, and are strong enough to withstand tornadoes, hurricanes and even earthquakes.
