Birmingham News and Faith ChapelJune 12, 2006 by Carol Lanham As the first of six new domes was inflated in Birmingham, Alabama for Faith Chapel Christian Center, religion reporter Greg Garrison was on hand to chronicle the event in a national news story. Garrison is the religion reporter for the Birmingham News, but his articles are also distributed to other newspapers on the Religion News Service wire. In his article, headlined “Domed City,” Garrison wrote about how the church expects to have completed seven domes on the 137-acre church campus by next year. The first was a $15 million, 3,000-seat sanctuary built in 2,000. The additional six domes, part of a $16.5 million expansion, will house facilities where church members can socialize, including one for a 12-lane bowling alley; another for teen dancing and game rooms; one for a smoke-free, alcohol-free nightclub for adults; another for a children's building with an indoor playground; and one that will be a fitness center with basketball, skating, aerobics and a banquet hall.
