Monolithic Dome Conference Rounds the CornerMarch 3, 2004 by Kris Garrison
It's almost March 18th and the 10th Annual Monolithic Dome Conference is just 'round the corner. Dome experts, designers, architects, engineers, dome enthusiasts and vendors will gather at the Fort Worth Plaza to learn the latest and greatest about Monolithic Domes and to glance back over the past 10 years to see just how far domes have come! This is an historic year. You don't want to miss it! This year's theme, A Decade of Domes, will be integrated throughout the conference in breakout sessions, general sessions and as part of the keynote address. We are excited to present energy efficiency experts, Russell Smith and Charles Freeman from the Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association. They will discuss how the Monolithic Dome positively contributes to renewable energy systems. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Association) Representative, David Passey, Regional Public Affairs Officer will cover all the safety advantages of Monolithic Domes. Professional storm chaser and teacher, Steven Levine, will share his expertise about storms and tornados and how Monolithic Domes surpass all other structures when it's time to ride out the storm. Bulletin Board guru, Mark Henrikson (a.k.a. Yumadome) will be there to discuss the pros and cons of building a large Monolithic Dome and the ins and outs of planning it and making it all come together! Note: In other Bulletin Board News, several domies are planning to get together for dinner on Thursday night somewhere in Ft. Worth. Please email Arnold at awill99@aol.com if you'd like to participate, or simply post a message on the board. Other interesting and knowledgeable speakers include architects, Rick Crandall and Leland Gray; engineer, Arnold Wilson; and experts from the Monolithic Dome Institute. For convenience of the attendees, a babysitting service will be available during the conference for anyone needing assistance with small children. For rate information, contact Mrs. Monica Daniels at (817)557-2810. Attendees have until March 12th to reserve daycare or it will not be available.
