The Carter Home in Milford, TexasJune 10, 2004
Milford, Texas, a tiny rural town just south of Italy, Texas just acquired 4 new residents - changing its population from 711 people to 715. New home owners, Joey and Merrisa Carter and their two daughters have recently moved into their new Monolithic dome home which they were able to finance quite easily through Wells Fargo. After living in a very crowded 12-foot dome and then a very small, conventional apartment, Joey and Merrisa, looked forward to the opportunity of owning their own home and having more space. Since Milford is rural, they were able to obtain the land for a very fair price. After the land purchase, they went forward with design plans for their new Monolithic Dome. Their 32' diameter dome features 804 square feet, two bedrooms and one bathroom. The kitchen flows through into the living area and is separated by a dining bar. The living area offers plenty of space for all of them to relax, play and rest. Joey has worked full time for Monolithic since 1999 in a variety of capacities. Since 2000 he has performed as job site foreman working side by side with Mike South building domes, spraying shotcrete and learning the tricks of the dome building trade. Merrisa is an artist and has fulfilled drawing assignments for Monolithic on many occasions (See a sample of her drawings).
