Bill Fraley Building 10th Monolithic DomeJuly 23, 2003 by Rebecca South Every year between fifty to one-hundred people go through a Monolithic Dome Building Workshop. When surveying a room of would-be domebuilders, there's just no telling who will-- and who will not-- build more than one dome. Who will start a dome building business? Who will be a "domebuilder?" Bill Fraley first heard about domes when purchasing a wind generator. The man he bought it from owned several Monolithic Domes. This led to him researching the structures, and ultimately attending a Workshop in 2000. Three years later he's still building domes. Mr. Fraley is currently finishing up a new Monolithic Dome home in Florence, WI. The residence is 32' in diameter and 20' tall (it has a 7' stem wall). When I spoke with him 2 weeks ago, he was getting ready to frame the first and second floor. This is Mr. Fraley's 10th Monolithic Dome, and he has quite a few possibilities lined up and vieing to be the 11th.
