The Tropics-- Bird Aviary

This 55-foot diameter dome will be the new home for approximately 300 tropical birds in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The Airformed-tunnel entrance serves as a permanent airlock allowing entry to the dome without birds exiting! The Tropics, an exotic bird rescue and refuge, saves sick and unwanted birds, and provides a home for birds that can no longer be cared for by their owners. This is a common problem since birds can live a long time, even 100 years!

This dome, constructed by Stone Creek Ltd. of Concord North Carolina, will be the first Monolithic Dome in the world used exclusively as a tropical bird aviary.
